Machel Mantano says “Don’t Judge me” (new Soca2013)

Share
As we herald the arrival of the New Year we have a new song from Machel Montano titled “Don’t Judge Me”. This song, released a few hours before the start of 2013 is an interesting one because of the Soca star’s impending sentencing set for early January. Some may say that the genesis of this song is a result of the recent court case that he and a few of his band members lost in Trinidad.
Is it a cry for sympathy or just Machel doing a bit of public relations work before he appears in front of a judge for sentencing? Your guess is as good as mine and may not be worth anything as the final outcome is read out in court. What ever the outcome there will be those who support Machel and those who will not; I wish him well with the eventual outcome
Machel looks like he has taken a page from American singer Chris Brown who also released a song titled ‘Don’t Judge Me’ after his troubled affair with Pop sensation Rihanna. This song (done by Machel Montano) has a nice groovy pace and may be a song that you will absolutely like.
The song was written by Rubert Clarke and Machel with the production done by the Red Boyz (Bajan/Trini duo working out of Barbados). This song has a very nice and sympathetic feel to it and it may just make you think differently about Machel. Take a listen and feel the vibe of the song. This is a wicked one from Machel and De Redz Boyz!

Regardless of what you may think of Mr.Montano, just remember that everyone of us will make a mistake at some point in our lives. He is loved and disliked by many adoring and jealous fans but he remains the main draw for any Carnival or Soca show. So before you go and beat up on the man just keep mind that, just like you and me, he will make errors; we all do as some point in our lives. One should always be cognizant of that fact, and keep in mind, that to err is human but to forgive is divine. Happy New Year Everyone!

Your thoughts???…

Konshens Inks Deal With VP

Share

Dancehall artiste Konshens has made a significant step in the right direction as far as his career is concerned.

His Subkonshus Music label has signed an exclusive deal with New York-based independent label VP Records, for the chart topping smash single Gal a Bubble.

In an interview with The Gleaner, Konshens stated that VP reached out to him with a golden opportunity.

“The song picked up steam in the US, after doing its rounds in Jamaica and the rest of the Caribbean. It grabbed VP’s attention and they reached out to me and presented a nice opportunity that was good for my career and for the success of the song, that’s basically how the deal came about,” Konshens said.

The Stop Sign artiste has been in demand by the reggae label, which has been closely monitoring the steady progress of his career and the professionalism of his management team which comprises Miguel ‘Kitten’ Noble and Aranthes Lewin.

The team has been able to break barriers in the promotion and marketing of Konshens’ recently released album Mental Maintenance.

Impressed with the success of the Gal a Bubble single, VP Records and Subkonshus Music hammered out a licensing and distribution deal which will be beneficial to both parties.

Gal a Bubble, which was produced by Subkonshus Music, has been successful in several markets outside of Jamaica, including the United States, the Caribbean and Europe. It has also topped several charts locally and overseas.

VP Records, arguably the largest independent record label for reggae and dancehall music, has played a major role in the international success of dancehall/reggae acts over the years, including Buju Banton, Beenie Man and Sean Paul through the label’s exclusive deals with Warner Music’s Atlantic Records and Virgin Music Canada.

Music has always been a passion for me. I have always love music ever since primary School my fellow classmates and I usually have sound clashes.  We use to knock on the desktops for the riddims. My true talent was discovered by my grade 6 teacher, when one day we had just came back from our breaks and was singing the song after you finish having break. My teacher notice that I was singing the break song with a passion and invited me to be the lead singer for the Graduation Choir. After leaving High School in year 2000 I started writing and taking music more seriously and started  going to studios. But my journey towards the music did not reach the next level until 2004, when my talent was discovered by one of Gregory Isaac daughter, Samantha Issac. She invited me to do some recording in Kingston at Enrapture studio, where I was worked on my skills and collaborated with other artists.

PUBLIK REPORT

Share
PUBLIK REPORT (FORMERLY KNOWN AS SOUL4SOUL) were gifted at an early age with a strikingly artful understanding of the spiritual qualities of music. Born in the western region of Jamaica, Soul 4 Soul’s earliest musical memories were liturgical church hymns, which inspired the quartet to form an acapella vocal group with moralistic musical sensibilities.

The heavenly blend of ‘PUBLIK REPORTS’ soothing voices has attracted an ardent and devoted audience throughout Jamaica, placing the group among the most revered and promising new acts in the reggae industry today. The quartet has won Jamaica’s National Gospel Festival Competition several years in a row, and has been a constant and reliable entertainment franchise within Jamaica’s North-Coast tourist destinations.

PUBLIK REPORTS’s music has been featured on the most popular radio stations and music video programs in the West Indies, including RETV, Hype TV and Tempo, and the group has performed at the most prestigious cultural festivals and concerts throughout the Caribbean region, including Reggae Sumfest 2011, Peter Tosh’s Birthday Bash, Riding West, The Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival, Western Consciousness, The Miss Jamaica World 2008 Pageant, The Jamaica Cultural Development Commission Festival Queen Competition, Tropicana Nyammins and Jammins Food Festival, Curry Fest and Mango Fest.

The quartet’s first single, titled “Ina Taxi,” showcased the group’s youthful energy, fun-loving spirit and adroit ensemble talent. A dancehall composition marketed for international audiences, “Ina Taxi” embodies the spirit of any urbane male enamored by the curious and charming window-silhouette of a beautiful woman riding in a taxi. This single remains today a remarkable display of PUBLIK REPORTS skillful vocals, cunning rap lyricism, emotive vocal harmony and light-hearted humor.

In 2011, PUBLIK REPORTS’s critical and professional acclaim has perched the group on the brink of international fame. Most recently, Soul 4 Soul recorded a Lovers Rock ballad, titled “Promise,” which was featured on reggae producer Barry O’Hare’s globally-renowned “Masterpiece Riddim” album. In addition, PUBLIK REPORT were featured on a historic collaboration – an energetic reggae rendition of the Marvin Gaye classic, “What’s Going On,” with lead vocals recorded by roots-reggae legend Freddie McGregor and group memeber ‘Nerry’ . With its brisk rhythm and paramount lyrical message, this collaboration  solidifies PUBLIK REPORTS’s reputation as a dedicated and artistically-proficient ensemble worthy of inclusion to the Reggae mainstream.

GENIUS THE KING – FEATURED ARTIST

Share

GENIUS THE KING - Hailing from the richest country, the U.S.A., from the richest state, Connecticut, The Rich Allegiance Entertainment presents Genius The King “The Rich Shotta.”

Genius The King represents the myriad of people of Caribbean decent that were either born in one of several Caribbean nations and emigrated to the United States as a youth or were born in the United States to the parents that are of Caribbean decent. “JAMERIKANS” stand up! Genius The King emigrated to the United States from Jamaica at the age of 9 and became a naturalized citizen in his late teens. Genius was born in Kingston and was raised between Franklin Town (aka Dunkyrk), Kingston and Pepper, St. Elizabeth. When he emigrated to the U.S., he landed in Brooklyn, New York to reside with his mother who had already been in the United States since he was approximately 1 year old. After living in Brooklyn for 2 years he moved to Bridgeport, Connecticut and has resided there ever since then. Genius The King became obsessed with music in his early teens while attending Central Magnet High School in Bridgeport. He started to write songs and recorded himself at home on his home stereo. He would then play the tapes for his friends who became his earliest fans. His musical talent was homed by clashing with other Jamaican artists in his age group and rappers when he was still in high school. Genius said that clashing was the best way to sharpen his lyrical skills in English and the Jamaican dialect. “The pressure of losing in front of a crowd of my peers, made me focused on the being wittiest lyricist I could be. It made me go hard and I will always go hard because of my day of clashing in the school yard as a youth.” After high school Genius’s life took a negative turn. At age 21, he was convicted of robbery in the first degree for robbing a bank for approximately $60,000. He was then placed under federal investigation for approximately 7 more bank robberies.

After serving approximately 5 ½ years for his robbery conviction, he was then released on parole. Genius knew that music was his calling, so he hit the studios hard and started to record at a break neck pace. Having matured during his incarceration where he mastered his skills as a lyricist, he wanted to become a career musician. His milestone achievement was coordinating the logistics to be featured on a Vybz Kartel record, on which he co-produced. As the saying goes “Old habits die hard” because within a year of being released on parole for bank robbery, Genius was rearrested and charged with conspiracy to commit robbery in the second degree for allegedly being the getaway driver in yet another bank robbery. Currently incarcerated and slated to be released this December, Genius who was in the process of being signed to Sony Records before his current incarceration, organized and created his own label MPBE Productions, LLC with the help of his manager Chrisy and his best friend Dynamo and has started to release the records in his the repertoire. The first of which will be the Vybz Kartel record titled “I Love You.” Genius has lived a very “colorful” life to say the least, up to this point and he is now poised to become one of the greatest lyrist reggae and the entire music world has ever known. Stay tuned!

“My goal is to introduce the world to the type of talent that is being produced from within the ranks of American wealth, power, and influence. I feel elated to be in the #1 country representing the elite generation that has broken the mold and continue to create a new mold comprised of the multitude of different traditions, cultures, and ethnicities coalesced into one New America. We’re the best. I once took the amount of opportunities available in America for granted because I became complacent amongst the status quo of enormous wealth. This led into a negative life and a negative attitude which led to perdition. Once I had a chance to take a step back a regroup, I began to embrace, respect, and utilize the enormous wealth and opportunity available to me as an American citizen. Now I am vying for the #1 spot in the #1 spot to be.” Genius The King  I Love You GK TAGG – Genius The King
