A 15-year-old expectant mother who was taken into custody by the St Catherine North police after preliminary investigations revealed that she breached a court order which resulted in her pregnancy was offered bail yesterday.

The minor who faced the Juvenile Court on the day was offered $50,000 bail and has since been reunited with her family until July when she is to return to court.

According to THE STAR the minor who is a former student of a high school in St Catherine was remanded at the Fort Augusta Adult Correctional Centre last Friday until yesterday.

It is further understood that the minor was taken to the police by her mother in an attempt to receive a letter from the cops for her daughter to be transferred from her former high school to another when the minor was arrested.

THE STAR  also reported that a female officer who was assisting the mother recognised her daughter from a previous court appearance as part of a carnal abuse case and launched an enquiry about her status.

A pregnancy test was conducted on the minor and it confirmed her gestation.

The female cop took the child from her mother and advised her that the child had been ordered by the court to stay away from her alleged lover who is in his 20s.

However, it is being assumed that the child disobeyed and ended up pregnant.

The matter is being investigated.
