Bolt, Blake Stir Up Wet ‘N’ Wild

The Dream Weekend team’s well-oiled machinery of providing an ultimate entertainment experience was in fine form at its marquee party event Xtreme Wet ‘N’ Wild at Kool Runnings WaterPark in Negril on Sunday. So keen were they on ensuring patrons could get a chance to see the Olympic Champion Usain Bolt and Jamaicans Yohan Blake and Asafa Powell at the Olympic Games’ 100-metre final in London, that they mounted a large screen at the venue and had a flat-screen television in the VIP area to stream the race live from CVM TV.

This proactive move paid huge dividends for the event’s promoters as Bolt’s win and Blake’s secondplace finish gave patrons additional fuel to party.A great level of organisation went into Xtreme Wet ‘N’ Wild this year when compared with last year, in terms of crowd control, as the promoters made a limited amount of presold tickets available to prevent the chaos that happened last year where season-band holders and persons with tickets were not able to get into the venue. There were no tickets at the gate.

For persons who did not get a chance to get into Wet ‘N’ Wild, the disc jockeys encouraged patrons to support the other Dream Weekend event, Miami J’Ouvert, which was being held simultaneously. The party began at 1 p.m. and, as is traditional, avid party goers did not want to risk not being inside the venue. Everybody came out early.Beenie Man was in a celebratory mood when Bolt won his race in record time, and not only gave a brief performance, but anchored 3rd Dimension’s music selections, keeping the crowd on a high long after they left the event.
